I started out my career as a commercial lawyer with Werksmans Incorporated and left to start my own practice, Jacobson Attorneys, in August 2005. On 1 August 2007 I launched a new media law and policy focus area in Jacobson Attorneys. This new emphasis for my work as a lawyer draws on my experience with social media to provide an innovative service to clients involved in the new media space.
I focus on the intersect between the social Web and the law. I am particularly interested in open content licenses, protection of personal information, reputation issues and freedom of expression on the Web.
I specialise in legal issues arising out of the social Web and digital media. This includes social media; online publishing; content licensing and protection, content distribution and licensing; privacy and protection of personal information; freedom of expression and online reputation management and open source models.
I also have over a decade's experience in general commercial litigation and commercial legal work.
